Clearing Support Services

Background and History

Clearing Support Services was born 14 years ago as a subsidiary of a specialised computer hardware and software supplier by the name of Rogetronics Computer Services, a company involved since 1984 in providing highly specialised data encryption and control systems and hardware to corporations such as First National Bank, Standard Bank, Edgars and Caltex.

During 1989, Roger Shaw, the proprietor of this company was approached to upgrade an inferior Customs Import Clearing software program. Upon completion of lengthy redevelopment, he was unable to secure payment for the services rendered.

Consequently, Clearing Support Services was created to market the program. This proved to be very successful, particularly for the small to medium sized companies.

Demand for the program was such that further development into the other related areas such as Agent Invoicing, Accounting, Groupage, Exports and Bond Store systems followed, with much success. Growth has been steady, from a one-man company to a vibrant company employing 16 people in 3 branch offices, of which 12 are involved with software & technical support.
